SHREVEPORT, La. - The Hendrix College softball team used a late inning rally to secure a double-header sweep at Centenary College of Louisiana on Monday evening. The visiting Warriors (11-5) won the first game 8-1, then trailed the Ladies (1-17) 7-5 in the nightcap, before eventually winning 8-7.

In game one, Centenary scored in the bottom of the first on a RBI-single from first baseman Emma Viskozki. The game remained scoreless until Hendrix exploded for seven runs on seven hits in the top of the fifth. Freshman first baseman Shelby Anderson led the frame off with a walk, followed by a bunt single by sophomore left fielder Kaitlyn Zamzow. A fly ball from senior center fielder Sydney Copeland moved both runners into scoring position. Junior second baseman Catelyn Gibbs followed with a base hit to left field, scoring Anderson. Junior right fielder Tiffany Hubbard cleared the bases with a two-run single, giving the Warriors a 3-1 lead. With two outs, freshman catcher Jill Sikes doubled in Hubbard, then senior third baseman Paula Burr singled to put two runners on. Senior pitcher Ashley Halbert followed with a home run over the center field fence to put Hendrix up 7-1.

The Warriors tacked on one more run in the seventh when Halbert singled with two outs and scored on an Anderson double.

Halbert went 2-for-4 with the home run, three driven in and two runs scored. Anderson and Zamzow had two hits each as well.

Halbert picked up the win, fanning six batters, allowing just four hits, one run and two walks. Ladiy starter Lindsey Sconce (0-7) lasted 4.1 innings, giving up four hits, three runs and three walks.

In game two, Centenary took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when shortstop Nicole Warren singled, stole second and scored on a Lauren Swift base hit. The Warriors answered with two runs in the fourth with runs knocked in by Hubbard and sophomore shortstop Michaela Larabee. Hendrix went up 5-1 in the fifth when Burr led off with a double and scored on a pinch hit triple by sophomore Katy Havens. Havens scored on ground ball that allowed Zamzow to reach on an error. With the bases loaded later in the inning, Anderson drew a walk, plating Copeland, who reached on an infield single.

The Ladies answered with six runs on five hits and an error in the bottom of the fifth, taking a 7-5 lead. The Warriors tied it back up in the sixth on a two-run triple by Copeland, which plated Burr and Sikes.

In the top of the seventh, Larabee led off with a single to right field and was bunted over by Anderson. Halbert hit a double to right center, allowing Larabee to score the game-winning run.

Copeland led the Warriors at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a triple, two RBI and two runs scored. Larabee had three hits and Burr recorded two doubles. Whitney Patterson, Lauren Swift, Jessica McDonald and Abbie Woods each had two hits for Centenary.

Along with hitting the game-winning RBI, Halbert (6-3) picked up her second win of the day, allowing one hit and struck out one in 1.2 innings of relief. Lynsi Unruh (1-8) took the loss, giving up 14 hits, six earned runs, four walks and five strikeouts.
