CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College baseball team defeated the University of the Ozarks 2-1 at Warrior Field on Tuesday night. With the win, the Warriors improve to 11-15 overall, while the Eagles fall to 12-14.
In the bottom of the first, freshman second baseman
Charlie St. Clair drew walked, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a base hit up the middle by junior center fielder
Collin Radack. Hendrix held the 1-0 lead until the top of the sixth when Ozarks shortstop Mitchell Powers doubled with two outs and was knocked on a base hit from second baseman Nick Brill.
The Warriors went back ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth. Sophomore right fielder
Matt Simmons led off with a double, then moved to third on a ground out by sophomore designated hitter
John Pounds. Simmons crossed the plate after a single to left field by sophomore third baseman
Brady Newville.
The Eagles threatened in the ninth when Taylor Parker walked led off with a walk and pinch hitter John Singler singled to put runners on first and second with one out. Freshman closer
Daniel Imbro came in to strikeout center fielder Dean Igert and induce a ground ball from right fielder Freddy Prince to end the game.
Radack, Simmons and Newville had two hits each to lead Hendrix at the plate. First baseman Tony Morales registered two hits for the Eagles.

Will Nichol (1-2) earned his first collegiate win by allowing just five hits, one run, two walks and four strikeouts in 6.1 innings. Junior reliever
Justin Mosbey threw two scoreless innings and Imbro got the final two outs to earn his fourth save of the year.
Ozarks reliever Oscar Dominguez (0-1) took the loss, giving up the go ahead run along with two hits in two innings. Starter Nathan Cedor went five innings and gave up five hits, one run and four walks.
Hendrix will be back at home on Thursday when they host the University of Wisconsin-Platteville at 6 p.m.
