Warriors Fall to Tigers in Home Finale

CONWAY, Ark. – The Hendrix College men's lacrosse lost their regular season finale 13-5 to Sewanee- University of the South at Warrior Field on Sunday. With the loss, the Warriors fall to 5-9 overall and 3-4 in Southern Athletic Association play. The Tigers improved to 11-3 and 6-1.

Hendrix will be the fifth seed in the SAA Tournament and will play at #4 Birmingham-Southern College on Saturday or Sunday.

For the game, Sewanee outshot Hendrix 34-20 and 25-12 in shots on goal. The Warriors had a 30-28 ground balls advantage.

The Tigers jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first quarter, with freshman attacker Alex Heather being assisted by senior attacker Zach Doelger for the Warriors' only goal. Sewanee added two more in the second before freshman Taylor Preisler scored on a pass from junior Cameron Millstone to make it 6-2 at halftime.

Doelger scored on another Millstone assist just 18 seconds in the third quarter. Twelve seconds later Michael Morris found the back of the cage for Sewanee to make the game 7-3. Millstone scored on a pass by freshman Jake Etheredge and freshman attacker Blake Campbell scored on Millstone's third assist of the game to cut the deficit to 7-5.

Sewanee ended the third quarter with a pair of man-up goals to go up 9-5, then scored four unanswered in the fourth quarter for the final tally.

Millstone had a goal and three assists for four points. He also picked up five ground balls, breaking his own school record for most in a season with 129. Doelger had a goal and a assist. Sophomore midfielder Matt Carpenter had three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Freshman keeper Joe Takacs recorded 12 saves and eight ground balls.

Morris led the Tigers with five goals, two assists and six ground balls. Davis Brown had three goals and Reed Daniel added two goals and two assists. Tommy Healy stopped seven shots in goal .
