MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Hendrix College men's tennis team opened the Southern Athletic Association Tournament with a 9-0 loss to top seed Sewanee – University of the South on Friday morning. The Tigers (12-6), the 12th-ranked team in the region, gained two points since the Warriors (1-13) only had five players competing.
In number one doubles, Rand Jackson and Sean Laughlin defeated sophomores
Bob Berardi and
Robert Sheets 8-3.
In singles, Jackson topped Sheets 6-2, 6-3 in the first flight. Berardi lost to Eric Roddy 6-2, 6-4 in number three singles, and senior
Payton Lea lost to Levi Joy 6-1, 6-1 in number four.
Hendrix, the eighth seed, will face #4 Millsaps on Saturday at 9 a.m.
