CONWAY, Ark. – The Hendrix College baseball team lost the rubber-match of a three-game non-conference series to Emory University 8-1 at Warrior Field on Sunday afternoon.
The visiting Eagles (15-13) went up 1-0 in the top of the first when shortstop Jared Kahn led off with a single, stole second and scored on a base hit by catcher Jared Welch. The Warriors (15-17) tied it up in the bottom of the frame. Freshman second baseman

Matt Simmons drove in his 24th run of the year when he plated St. Clair with a base hit.
The game remained tied until Emory scored three runs in the fourth on a hit and two errors. The Eagles added two more in the seventh on a Daniel Iturrey two-run single. Iturrey and center fielder Wes Peacock connected on back-to-back run-scoring doubles in the ninth for the 8-1 final score.

Austin Womack had two hits each for the Warriors. Iturrey was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three driven in for Emory.
EU starter Dylan Finer (2-0) gained the win with a five-inning start, allowing six hits, one unearned run and four strikeouts. Sophomore
Nick Land (3-2) suffered the loss, allowing three hits, three earned runs and three walks with four strikeouts over four innings.
The Warriors will return to Southern Athletic Association play when they host Rhodes College for a three-game series starting on Friday.
