SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Hendrix College men's tennis team lost a pair of Southern Athletic Association matches on the road over the weekend. The Warriors (1-10, 0-5) lost to Centre College (5-5, 2-2) in Danville, Ky. on Saturday, then lost to Sewanee – University of the South (10-5, 4-0), the 15th-ranked team in the region, on in Tennessee on Sunday.
Sophomore
Robert Sheets won both of his matches, beating the top singles players from both teams. The San Francisco, Calif. native defeated Woody Rini of the Colonels 6-4, 6-1 and Levi Joy of the Tigers 6-4, 6-1. Sophomore
Nick Berardi lost a 6-1, 6-3 decision to Trey Williamson of Centre in number three singles. Senior
Adam Ratcliff lost the sixth singles match to Charles Calhoun of Sewanee 6-2, 6-2.
In doubles, Sheets and sophomore
Bob Berardi lost the top match to Centre's Lucas Kelley and Xan Witherington 8-4. The duo barely lost 9-7 to Grant Hopkins and Levi Joy from Sewanee.
The Warriors will return home on Friday to face LeTourneau University at 2 p.m.
