TYLER, Texas - The Hendrix College women's soccer team opened the 2013 campaign with a 3-0 loss at the University of Texas Tyler on the road Friday night.

The host Patriots (1-0) outshot the Warriors (0-1) 27-4 for the game, including 12-2 in shots on goal.

The game was scoreless at the half, but Brittany Matthews broke the tie with a goal on a pass from Jordan Johnson just 54 seconds into the second period. Melissa Miller added a goal in the 63rd minute and Johnson scored in the 70th.

Sophomore forward Hannah Sigda took both shots on goal for Hendrix. Sophomore midfielder Samantha Lallas and freshman defender Ashley Baker also took a shot each. Sophomore Rachel Zweig recorded nine saves in goal. Macy Hurley had two saves for UTT.

Hendrix will return home on Saturday when they face Louisiana College at 5 p.m. at Warrior Field.
