CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The Hendrix College baseball team survived a wild game at the University of the Ozarks to claim their first victory of the season 14-11 at Lonnie Qualls Field on Tuesday afternoon.

The Warriors (1-4) outhit the Eagles (2-2) 18-5, but made 10 errors, breaking the school record of nine set against Arkansas State in 1924, and walked 10 batters.

After both teams scored a run each in the first, Ozarks went ahead 2-1 in the third after three errors in the frame. Hendrix answered with a seven-run fourth inning on eight hits. The Orange & Black sent 12 batters to play, with junior shortstop Ryan Rtiz and senior first baseman Thomas Weber each connecting on two-run singles during the inning. Hendrix used three hits and an error in the top of the fifth to move the lead to 9-2.

Three more errors in the fifth inning led to three runs for the Eagles, cutting the deficit to 9-5. Hendrix tacked on three runs in the sixth with three hits and an error. Senior center fielder Collin Rdack and Weber each drove in a run during the inning. Radack hit a solo home run to left field with two outs in the top of the eighth to give the Warriors a 13-5 advantage.

The Eagles managed four runs on four walks and a hit batter in the eighth to make the game 13-9. Junior right fielder Matt Simmons hit an inside-the-park home run in the top of the ninth after the ball got past a diving Brandon Brewer in left field.

With the bases loaded and one out for Ozarks in the bottom of the ninth, senior Justin Mosbey came in to pitch for the Warriors. After giving up a walk to first baseman John Singler and a sacrifice fly to pinch hitter Andres Acosta, Mosbey ended the game by getting Andrew Beck to strikeout looking, earning his seventh career save in the process.

Radack went 3-for-5 at the plate with four runs scored, two driven in, a double, a home run and a stolen base. Ritz had three hits, two RBI and two steals and freshman left fielder Wyatt Hogan went 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Weber, Simmons and freshman Spencer Summers each had two hits.
