CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College men's tennis team lost to Austin College 6-3 at the Hendrix Indoor Tennis Center Friday night.
The Warriors fall to 1-3 overall, while the 'Roos move to 203.
Austin swept through doubles with David Smith and Jack Kunde needing a tiebreaker to defeat Hendrix freshman duo
Karthik Garimella and
Ian McVinney 9-7 (8-6) in the second flight.
The Warriors picked up three wins in singles competition. Junior
Robert Sheets won the number one match-up over Adam Dokos 6-3, 6-2. Garimella needed a tiebreaker to defeat Spencer Gander 7-6, 5-7, 1-0 (10-7) in number four singles. Freshman
Zach Villemez also won for Hendrix in number five singles, topping David Smith 6-4, 6-2.
Hendrix will open Southern Athletic Association play on Sunday when they host Rhodes College.
