Warriors Fall to Powerhouse Bisons

CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College men's tennis team opened the spring schedule with a 9-0 loss to Harding University at the Hendrix Indoor Tennis Center on Wednesday night.

The Bisons (3-0), who are ranked #39 nationally in NCAA Division II, swept through doubles over the Warriors (0-2).

The Hendrix junior tandem of Robert Sheets and Bob Berardi played Mathaus Spiering and Jon Mark Rowden close, falling 8-5 in number one doubles. Freshmen Ian McVinney and Karthik Garimella lost 8-2 to Yann Le Mat and Brandon Hogland in the second flight.

In singles, Spiering downed Sheets 6-2, 6-1 at the top spot. Le Mat bested McVinney 6-2, 6-0 in number three singles and Alex Ford defeated freshman Zach Villemez 6-2, 6-1 in the fifth flight.

The Warriors are off until Feb. 14 when they host John Brown University.
