MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Hendrix College baseball team split with Rhodes College on Saturday at Stauffer Field to take the first Southern Athletic Association set of the season.
After winning 13-9 in 12 innings on Friday, the Warriors (5-6, 2-1) used a pitching gem from sophomore
Kyle Teachout to win 3-0 in Saturday's opener. The Lynx (7-4, 1-2) rebounded to win the nightcap 5-2.
Teachout needed just 91 pitches in the six-hit, one-walk shutout. On the season, Teachout is 2-0 with a 0.00 earned run average in 21.2 innings.
Senior center fielder
Collin Radack led the game off by being hit by a pitch and junior shortstop
Ryan Ritz followed with a bunt single. Senior
Thomas Weber drew a walk to load up the bases. Senior second baseman
Jacob Perschke drove in Radack with a single to center field and junior
Matt Simmons hit a sac fly, scoring Ritz to give Hendrix a 2-0 lead. Weber doubled and scored on a Simmons base hit in the third for the only other run of the game.
Weber and Simmons each had two hits for Hendrix, with Simmons driving in a pair. Patrick Kilkenny and Andrew Wallis had two hits a piece for Rhodes.
Blake Glauben (1-1) took the loss for the Lynx, allowing seven hits, three runs, three walks and two strikeouts in eight innings.
In game two, Rhodes scored one after an error in the first then four more in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead. Brendan DePoy had the big blow of the game with a two-run double to right center.
Ritz drove in Radack and freshman first baseman

Ritz went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two steals to lead the Warriors at the plate. Shortstop Bill Munson recorded two hits for the Lynx.
Daniel Morris (2-1) got the win, giving up six hits, two runs, one walk and four walks. Josh Olejnik picked up the save by allowing just a walk in the seventh. Weber (1-2) allowed three hits, four earned runs, two walks and fanned one in 3.2 innings.
Hendrix will host Central Baptist College on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
