ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Hendrix College men's lacrosse team defeated Fontbonne University 18-3 on the road on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors (4-2) scored the first six goals of the game, and led 10-1 at halftime. They outscored the Griffins (1-4) 8-2 in the second half.
Hendrix outshot Fontbonne 53-26 overall and 37-14 on goal. The Orange & Black also had a 34-18 ground ball advantage.
Freshman midfielder
Jason Blatt won 20-of-23 faceoff attempts for the Warriors, breaking his school record of 19 faceoffs won, set earlier this season. Blatt also picked up a school record 16 ground balls.
Senior midfielder
Cameron Millstone scored six points and recorded an assist. Freshman attacker
Carson Boone came up with seven points on three goals and four assists. Freshman
Robbie Borrello also had a hat trick and sophomore
Patrick Rogers dished out three assists. Sophomore
Joe Takacs scored twice at attack and stopped four shots in goal.
Patrick Diamonon,
Blake Campbell and
Alex Ortenstone each had a goal and an assist and
Alex Heather scored once.
Borrello and freshman Connor Biard caused two turnovers a piece.
Dennis O'Hara recorded four saves and
Christian Wheeler had three.
Nick Athmann, Brandon Backus and Michael Jennings each scored for the Griffins. Thomas Carroll came up with 19 saves in goal.
Hendrix will return home to face Piedmont on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
