Warriors Complete Sweep of Majors

CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College baseball team completed a three-game sweep of Millsaps College with a 3-1 victory at Warrior Field on Sunday.

The Warriors improve to 11-11 overall and 7-5 in Southern Athletic Association competition, while the Majors drop to 12-11 and 3-5.

Senior center fielder Collin Radack led off the bottom of the first with a base hit, extending his hitting streak to 12 games. He moved to second on a Seth Mobley ground ball and scored on a double to right field off the bat of junior right fielder Matt Simmons to give Hendrix an early lead.

Junior designated hitter Brady Newville led the fifth off with a single, was bunted over by Logan Hiatt and later scored on a Mobley sac fly to go up 2-0.

Freshman third baseman Spencer Summers led the seventh off with a walk, was bunted over by Radack, which resulted in an error. Mobley was hit by a pitch to load up the baess with no outs. Summers scored on a ground ball from Ryan Ritz, which resulted in a double play.

Catcher Blake Littlejohn singled and was driven in by left fielder Stephen Gates in the eighth for the Majors' only run.

Warrior senior righty Thomas Weber (3-2) started and went three innings, allowing three hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Freshman Billy Lovvorn gave up three hits and a run in two innings and junior Nick Land earned his second save by surrendering one walk and a hit with a strikeout in the ninth.

Daniel Ross (2-2) took the loss, giving up four hits, one earned run, two walks and a strikeout in five innings.

The Warriors only had five hits, with Simmons connecting for two of them, and Radack, Newville and senior second baseman Jacob Perschke getting one each. Freshman left fielder Wyatt Hogan drew three walks.

Andrew Rafferty had three hits for Millsaps.

Hendrix will travel to Texarkana, Texas on Wednesday to face Austin College.
