Warriors Bounce 'Roos 6-3

TEXARKANA, Texas - The Hendrix College baseball team won their fourth consecutive game with a 6-3 victory over Austin College at Texas High School on Wednesday afternoon.

The Warriors (12-11) outhit the Kangaroos (4-18) 12-6 for the game.

Senior center fielder Collin Radack led the bottom of the first with a walk, stole second and was driven in on a base hit from junior catcher Seth Mobley. Junior shortstop Ryan Ritz followed with a base hit, moving Mobley to third. After a pop up, senior first baseman Thomas Weber hit a sac fly to right, plating Mobley. Ritz stole second and scored on a single from freshman left fielder Wyatt Hogan to give Hendrix a 3-0 lead.

Brooks Ward led off with a walk in the second, move to second on a balk and scored on an error for Austin. Left fielder Alan Parrent plated James Arguello, who reached on the error, with a sac fly to make the game 3-2.

Freshman third baseman Spencer Summers drew a walk and later scored on a Radack single, extending his streak to 13 games, to put the Warriors up 4-2 in the fourth. In the sixth, senior second baseman Austin Womack led off with a hit, stole second and was knocked in on another Radack hit.

Arguello drove in Chance Hatchel with a base hit in the top of the eighth to make the game 5-3. Hendrix answered in the bottom of the frame with two outs when Radack was hit by a pitch and scored on a Ritz double down the left field line.

Womack went 3-for-4 with a steal and a run for Hendrix. Radack was 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI and three stolen bases. Ritz and Hogan had two hits each.

Arguello led the 'Roos with two hits.

Sophomore Brian Commerford (2-1) started and earned the win, lasting five innings and giving up just two hits, one earned run, two walks and fanning two. Freshman lefty Colten Poellinger struck out three and allowed one hit in two scoreless innings. Senior Justin Mosbey picked up his second save of the year, striking out two in 1.1 perfect innings.

Mychael Parrish (0-1) took the loss in the start, giving up seven hits, four runs and three walks in 3.1 innings.

Hendrix will host #3 Trinity University in a three-game series this weekend.
