SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Hendrix College softball team won their sixth and seventh straight Southern Athletic Association games by sweeping Sewanee - The University of the South on the road on Sunday afternoon. The Warriors (13-9, 7-2) took game one 6-1, then downed the Tigers (3-15, 0-10) 19-0 in five innings.
In the opener, sophomore pitcher
Ariel McDonald (2-1) allowed just two hits, a walk and an unearned run in the complete game win. Michelle Thibodeaux (2-6) took the loss for the Tigers, giving up 11 hits, five earned runs, a walk and three strikeouts.
In the top of the third, sophomore
Courtney Riley led off with a base hit, was bunted over by senior center fielder
Tiffany Hubbard and scored on a single by senior second baseman
Catelyn Gibbs to give Hendrix a 1-0 lead. Right fielder Sarah Fleming reached on an error and scored on a sac fly from third baseman Kate Heil to tie the game in the fourth.
The Warriors regained the lead with three runs on four hits and two errors in the fifth. A Gibbs RBI-double in the sixth scored Hubbard and junior right fielder

Gibbs and Fires each had three hits, including a double and two RBI. Junior shortstop
Michaela Larabee also had three hits for Hendrix. Sara Burklin and Courtney Saunders came up with the Tigers' only hits.
The Warriors took advantage of nine errors, 12 hits and eight walks for their highest offensive output of the season in game two. The Orange & Black scored three in the first, four in the second, 10 in the third and two in the fifth.
Meanwhile, sophomore
Kayla Patton (9-4) was in the circle, fanning one, in a four-hit, five-frame shutout. Heil (1-5) took the loss for Sewanee, allowing five hits, eight earned runs and seven walks in two innings.
Hubbard went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and two driven in. Larabee scored three times with three RBI and a stolen base. Gibbs also scored three times. Patton went 1-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Ten different Warriors had hits in the game.
Hendrix will travel to Mount Berry, Ga. for a four-game SAA series with Berry College beginning Saturday.
