CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College baseball team closed out their three-game Southern Athletic Association series with an 11-1, 7-inning victory over Centre College on Sunday at Warrior Field.
The win gave the Warriors (7-7, 4-2) their second straight conference series by winning two of the three games. The Colonels fall to 4-7 and 1-2.
Hendrix outhit the Centre 16-4 and scored one run in the first, two in third, three in the fourth, two in the sixth and ended the game via run-rule with three in the seventh.
Senior center fielder
Collin Radack tied the school record with five runs scored and had two hits, two RBI and three stolen bases. The Austin, Texas native moved into second on the Hendrix career hits list with 205 and is just two behind record-holder Clark Sims with 207.
Junior shortstop
Ryan Ritz extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a pair of doubles for three RBI and a stolen base. Junior right fielder
Matt Simmons had a hit and knocked in three and freshman first baseman
Logan Hiatt drove in two. Junior designated hitter
Brady Newville and freshman left fielder
Wyatt Hogan recorded three hits each.
Seth Mobley and
Jacob Perschke added two singles a piece.
First baseman Trey Litsey drove in the Colonel's only run.
Senior starter
Thomas Weber (2-2) earned the win, allowing three hits, one run and five walks with a strikeout over six innings. Freshman lefty
Colten Poellinger allowed one hit and a walk in a scoreless seventh.
Stephen Shunk (0-3) allowed nine hits, six runs and a walk with a strikeout in four innings in the loss.
Hendrix will host Ecclesia for a non-conference game at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
