CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College softball team lost both games of a Southern Athletic Association double-header to Rhodes College at Warrior Field on Friday. The visiting Lynx (24-12, 9-9) took game one 9-2, then defeated the Warriors (15-18, 8-11) 8-3 in the nightcap.
With two games left, Hendrix sits in fifth place and would need to beat Rhodes twice on Saturday to move into the fourth seed for next weekend's SAA Tournament in Conway. Winning both games on Saturday, combined with a two losses for Millsaps against seventh-place Sewanee would propel the Warriors to the third seed.
The Lynx started game one with a two-run single from first baseman Rachel Pewitt in top of the first. The visitors tacked on five more runs in the sixth, including a three-run homer over the fence in center field by left fielder Amber Hunt.
Sophomore left fielder Courtney Williams led the bottom of the sixth off with a walk and moved to third on a double by freshman second baseman

Kayla Patton cleared the bases with a base hit through the right side for the Warriors' only runs.
Rhodes added two more runs in the seventh when second baseman Makenzie Martin hit a two-run single.

Shelby Anderson hit her 14th double of the season.
Rhodes, who outhit the Hendrix 14-6, had six players with two or more hits. Jessica Brown went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and Martin was 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Forrest Skelton started and picked up the win, allowing six hits, two runs and one walk with a strikeout. Patton (9-11) gave up 14 hits, nine runs, two walks and fanned one in the loss.
In game two, the Warriors scored two in the bottom of the second on three hits, a passed ball and two errors. Senior center fielder
Tiffany Hubbard singled and moved to second on an error. A base hit by senior catcher
DJ Sandidge advanced Hubbard to third, who then scored after a passed ball and an ensuing error allowed Sandidge to take third. Senior second baseman
Catelyn Gibbs followed with a base hit, plating Sandidge.
Center fielder Danielle Smith hit a three-run double in the fourth to give the Lynx the lead. Third baseman Christine Hume doubled and scored on another Brown double to put Rhodes up 4-2 in the top of the fifth.
Hubbard singled to start the bottom of the fifth and later scored on a Gibbs base hit to cut the deficit to 4-3. The Lynx added another run in the sixth and three in the seventh, including a two-run single by Martin for the final score.
Gibbs went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Hubbard was 2-for-2 with two runs and a single. Pewitt went 3-for-3 with two doubles and three runs scored. Smith drove in four runs.
Skelton (18-6) added another win, giving up three hits, one unearned run, three walks and two strikeouts in 3.1 innings of relief. Freshman
Hope Resor (4-6) gave up 14 hits, five earned runs and walked two in the losing effort.
Hendrix and Rhodes will wrap up the series with a 1 p.m. double-header on Saturday. The Warriors will honor their five seniors after the series finale.
