CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College men's tennis team lost to Sewanee - The University of the South 9-0 in Southern Athletic Association competition on Saturday morning.
With the win, the Tigers, the ninth-ranked team in the Atlantic South region, improve to 7-5 overall and 4-0 in conference, while the Warriors fall to 1-9 and 0-4.
At number one doubles, Eric Roddy and Charles Williamson defeated juniors
Robert Sheets and
Bob Berardi 8-2. Alex Cooper and Blake Wilde downed freshmen tandem
Zach Villemez and
Ilya Pound 8-2 in the third spot.
In singles, Avery Shober, ranked #11 in the region, defeated Sheets 6-0, 6-2 in the top matchup. Roddy topped freshman
Ian McVinney 6-3, 6-1 in number three singles and Scott Gallimore downed freshman
Karthik Garimella 6-2, 6-1 in the fourth spot.
Hendrix will play their final home match of the season when they host Centre College on Sunday at 11 a.m.
