Game 1 BoxGame 2 BoxMOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Hendrix College softball team lost games of a Southern Athletic Association double-header to Berry College at Ford Field on Saturday. The host Vikings (21-7, 10-2) took the first game 7-3, before downing the Warriors (13-11, 7-4) 14-1 in five innings.
In game one, Hendrix took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second when sophomore pitcher
Kayla Patton led off with a double and junior center fielder
Morgan Fires blasted a home run over the left field fence. Berry answered with three runs on four hits in the bottom of the frame. Third baseman Allison DeBusk hit a two-run triple and second baseman Sarah Brown followed with a sacrifice fly to give the home team the lead.
Berry added another run int he third to make the game 4-2. Junior first baseman
Katey Havens started the top of the fourth off with a double, was bunted over by freshman catcher
Amanda Riley and scored on a sac fly from sophomore left fielder
Courtney Riley to cut the deficit to 4-3.
The Vikings added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth on a single from catcher Abby Daniels. A Sarah Moore sac fly in the sixth made the game 7-3.

Michaela Larabee each had two hits for Hendrix. Patton, Fires and Havens had the other three. Brown went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and Marie Collop, Brittany Ferrell and Shelby Smith also had two hits each for Berry.
Kayla Davis (8-2) allowed seven hits, three runs and a walk to earn the win. Patton gave up 11 hits, seven runs and five walks over six innings in the losing effort.
The Vikings scored one run in the first, five in the third and eight in the fourth in the nightcap. The Warriors' only run came in the third when freshman second baseman
Victoria Hughes led off by reaching on an error and later was driven in on a base hit from Patton.
Berry outhit Hendrix 17-2 in the game. Allison Coronado (6-3) struck out two and gave up two walks to earn the win in the circle. Patton (9-6) gave up eight hits, six runs, two walks and struck out one over three innings.
Patton and
Amanda Riley had a hit each. Brown went 3-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles and DeBusk went 3-for-3 with two driven in. Smith was also 3-for-4 with two runs scored, three RBI and two doubles.
The Warriors and Vikings will wrap up the series with a double-header at 11 a.m. ET on Sunday.
