Box Score SEARCY, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's soccer team used a total team effort to defeat NCAA Division II opponent Harding University 1-0 at the Stevens Soccer Complex on Tuesday night.
The Warriors (5-2) broke the scoreless contest in the 70th minute when junior
Samantha Lallas found the back of the net off a rebound of her own free kick for her 10th goal of the season.
The Lady Bisons (0-6) controlled the first half by outshooting the Orange & Black 11-1. Hendrix had more opportunities with six shots in the second period, and weathered more of the HU attack, who added another 11 shots.
Freshman keeper
Jordan Rausch recorded 10 saves, including several diving stops, in her first full shutout of the season. The Warriors received a strong defensive effort from
Kacey Hight,
Kelly Cunningham,
Symone Bennett,
Ashley Baker and
Sydney Meyer.
On the offensive end, Lallas took two shots on goal and
Sydney King,
Lucy Moore and
Ellen Martin each had one. Hendrix also had good movement from their offensive attack with
Sydney Fobare,
Laurie Waters,
Janie Stultz and
Emma Paul playing well.
Carley Stevens took three shots on goal and Averie Albright and Adair Schmidt had two each for Harding. Kaitlyn Miller recorded three saves.
The victory was the first for Hendrix over Harding in four attempts.
Hendrix will take to the road again this weekend, playing at #24 Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas on Saturday.
