CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's soccer team earned their first win of the season, downing University of the Ozarks 3-0 on Tuesday night at Warrior Field. Samantha Lallas notched a goal and two assists to lead the team to victory.

Hendrix outshot the Eagles 22-8 over the course of the game, peppering the Ozarks' net with constant pressure. Codie Freeman made five save in net for the Eagles and surrendered two goals over the first 68:23 to take the loss. Mary Eoff made two saves and allowed one goal off the bench. In the Hendrix net, Jordan Rausch and Michaela Seltzer combined to blank Ozarks. Both goalkeepers made two saves, with Rausch earning the win.

Hendrix applied constant pressure throughout the first 20 minutes, but failed to find the net. Lallas had the team's first good chance off a free kick. The junior ripped a shot from 20 yards out, but it missed just inches over the crossbar.

It wasn't until the 37th minute that the Warriors gained the lead. Lallas flicked on a ball beyond the Ozarks defenders where Janie Stultz ran onto the ball and one-timed it into the bottom corner to put the home team ahead 1-0. The goal marked the first of the season for the Warriors..

In the second half, Lallas earned her second assist. The forward received a ball down the right flank and beat a defender to turn the corner. Lallas gained the end line and sent in a cross to the goal mouth where Sydney Fobare was waiting to finish it off. The goal in the 54th minute gave the Warriors a 2-0 cushion and marked the first of Fobare's career.

Later in the frame, Sydney King ran down a ball played over the Ozarks back line creating a breakaway opportunity. The forward deked past the goalkeeper, but was tripped up on her way to the open net, earning a penalty shot for the Warriors. Lallas stepped up to the 12-yard marker and blasted the ball off the fingertips of the keeper and into the bottom left corner to put the Warriors ahead 3-0.

The 3-0 win marked the first of the season for the Warriors as well as their first under new head coach Jeff Trimble, improving the team to 1-1 on the season. Hendrix will return to action on Friday, September 5 when they take on University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at Southwestern (Texas) at 1 p.m.
