Box Score GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Hendrix College women's soccer team held on for a 3-2 victory on the road against Southwestern University on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Warriors improve to 3-1 on the season, while the Pirates drop to 0-4.
Senior midfielder
Laurie Waters opened the scoring in the 12th minute on a left-sided cross from junior forward
Samantha Lallas to give Hendrix an early lead. The score stayed 1-0 until Allie Dillon scored for the Pirates off a corner kick in the 48th minute.
Sophomore Warrior
Kelly Cunningham sent a pass from the left side to freshman midfielder
Lucy Moore in the 63rd minute to put Hendrix up 2-1. Junior forward
Sydney King scored what turned out to be the game winner on a penalty kick in the 66th minute. Southwestern added another goal in the 74th minute when Angel Grayson scored on a Sarah Bevins assist.
The Pirates outshot the Warriors 15-7 overall but they were even in shots on goal at six each.
Freshman keeper
Jordan Rausch had four saves for Hendrix, while Katherine Rogers had three for the Pirates.
Hendrix will travel to Louisiana College in Pineville, La. on Friday.
