SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. - The Hendrix College men's tennis team finished their fall schedule with a 2-0 record after defeating John Brown University 6-3 on Saturday.
The Warriors took two of the three doubles matches to start. Junior
Ian McVinney and sophomore
Kiran Chakka defeated Colton Cheek and Kumhal Fulghem 8-3 in the first spot and junior tandem
Karthik Garimella and
Ilya Pound topped Luke Reimer and Ross Miner 8-3 in the third doubles slot. Sophomore
Kristian Lenser and freshman
Luke Lefler lost their second flight match 9-8.
In number one singles, McVinney topped Cheek 6-3, 6-1. Lenser defeated Nathan Kuykendall 6-2, 6-3 in the third spot and Chakka went over Fulghem 6-1, 6-3 at number four. Lefler also won against Reimer 6-1, 6-0 at number five singles. Garimella lost in a third set tiebreaker to Fernando Hurley at number two.
Hendrix will be back in action on Feb. 9 when they host Harding University at the Hatcher Tennis Center.
