Hendrix Splits Duel with Centenary

Results

SHREVEPORT, La. - For the second time this season, the Hendrix College swim teams split a duel with Centenary College of Louisiana Saturday afternoon. The Warrior women topped the Ladies 108-84. The Hendrix men lost to the Gents 89-58, but cut their deficit from 71 to 31 points from the last time they competed a month ago.

The Hendrix women won nine events and the men took three. Several season and personal bests were set by both teams.

Hendrix Women's Notes
- The 200 yard medley team of Christine Gozdalski, Journey Eubank, Caroline Forbes and Ploy Freebairn won their race with a season-best time of 2:00.02.
- Freebairn, Gozdalski, Eberle Yarborough and Forbes was a little over a second away from breaking the school record in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:44.80.
- Forbes, a senior, had wins in the 50 freestyle in 25.90 and the 100 free in 56.78, both season-best times.
- Eubank, a freshman, had a season-best 1:14.38 time in the 100 breaststroke, good for first place. She also won the 200 breaststroke in 2:49.44, another top time.
- Junior Abby Schlenk took the 200 yard butterfly in 2:26.16, a season-best.
- Yarborough won the 100 backstroke in a season-best time of 1:05.77.
- Freshman Emily Horelica was first in the 500 freestyle in
- Gozdalski, a freshman took second in the 200 freestyle with a season-best mark of 2:04.55. She was also third in the 100 freestyle in 58.54.
- Senior Sarah McHugh was second in the 100 back in 1:08.86.
- Sophomore Sydney Lacey was second in the 200 butterfly in 2:30.46. She also finished second in the 100 butterfly in 1:06.60.
- Junior Claire De Pree was second in 57.96 in the 100 freestyle.

Hendrix Men's Notes
- Freshman Andrew Fogg won the 100 yard backstroke in 1:03.97, his best time of the year.
- Sophomore Brandon Cathey swam the 200 butterfly in 2:13.24, finishing first. He also won the 100 butterfly in 56.31, a season-best.
- Junior Chris Griffin was second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.30.
- Senior Eric Mullins was second in the 50 freestyle in 23.55 and the 100 free in 53.15, both season-best times.
- Sophomore Connor Griffin was second in the 200 breaststroke with a season-best mark of 2:37.67.
- Cathey, Nicolas Maynard, Mullins and Chris Griffin were second in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:35.93.
