Hendrix Tops JBU 8-1

CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College men's tennis team defeated John Brown University 8-1 at home on Friday. It was the second win of the year for the Warriors (2-2) against the Golden Eagles.

In doubles, the senior tandem of Robert Sheets and Bob Berardi defeated Colton Cheek and Kamal Fulghern 8-0 in the top spot. Sophomore Ian McVinney and freshman Kiran Chakka beat Blake Zoellner and Seong Jae Jo 8-5 at the number two spot, and sophomore Karthik Garimella and freshman Kristian Lenser topped Alex Baker and Luke Reimer 8-4 in the third flight.

Hendrix took five of the six singles matches. Sheets downed Baker 6-2, 6-1 at number one singles. McVinney improved to 5-3 on the year by defeating Cheek 6-1, 6-1. Berardi, Garimella and Lenser also picked up victories.

Hendrix will face the University of the Ozarks at home on Saturday at 5 p.m.
