SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Hendrix College men's tennis team opened their Southern Athletic Association portion of their schedule with a 9-0 loss at #30 Sewanee - The University of the South on Saturday.
The visiting Warriors (4-4, 0-1) had a couple of close showings in doubles againt the nationally ranked Tigers (10-4, 2-0), who are also ranked fifth in the Atlantic South Region.
Sewanee's Eric Roddy and Alex Cooper, the seventh-ranked pair in the region, topped seniors
Robert Sheets and
Bob Berardi 6-4 in the first doubles match-up. Nikame Shropshire-Boykin and Blake Wilde topped Warriors
Karthik Garimella and
Kristian Lenser 8-4 in the third flight.
In singles, Avery Schober, who is ranked sixth in the region, topped Sheets 6-2, 6-0 at the top spot and #24 Roddy downed sophomore
Ian McVinney 6-2, 6-1 at number two.

Karthik Garimella lost to Scott Gallimore 6-4, 6-4 in the third spot and freshman
Kiran Chakka dropped a 7-6 (6-4), 6-2 decision to Shropshire-Boykin in number five singles.
Hendrix will travel to Danville, Ky. for another SAA match with Centre College on Sunday.
