CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College men's tennis team lost a close match to Southern Athletic Association rival Berry College 6-3 Friday morning.
The Warriors (4-6, 0-3) picked up a win at number three doubles over the Vikings (8-2, 2-2), the 12th-ranked team in the Atlantic South Region, when sophomore
Karthik Garimella and freshman
Kristian Lenser defeated Daniel Allitgood and Jake Pullen 9-7 with a 7-5 tiebreaker set. Sophomore
Ian McVinney and freshman
Kiran Chakka were edged 8-6 by Inigo Flores and Michael Tucker at number two doubles.
In singles, Garimella defeated Tucker 6-3, 6-4 in the third flight and Lenser defeated Pullen 6-4, 7-5 in the sixth spot for Hendrix' other two points. Senior
Robert Sheets suffered a 4-6, 7-6 (7-4,), 7-6 (10-8) loss to Logan Yerbey in first singles. Senior
Bob Berardi lost 6-5, 6-7, 7-6 to Allitgood in the fourth spot.
Hendrix will return to action on Saturday to face Oglethorpe University in another SAA home tilt.
