CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College men's tennis team held a 2-1 lead going into singles play but ultimately fell 6-3 to the LeTourneau College YellowJackets on Thursday afternoon.
Robert Sheets and
Bob Berardi earned an 8-3 win at first doubles while
Ian McVinney and
Kiran Chakka notched a point at the second doubles flight with an 8-6 victory.
Karthik Garimella and
Kristian Lenser dropped their doubles match at the third flight as the Orange and Black took a 2-1 advantage into singles play.
Lenser managed the Warriors' only singles point, earning a straight-set victory at the sixth flight, 6-1, 6-4. Hendrix fell in straight sets in the first four flights, with Garimella nearly stealing  set, but falling 12-10 in a second set tiebreaker.
Kiran Chakka nearly nabbed a point at fifth singles, going to a third-set superbreaker. Chakka narrowly missed in the tiebreak, falling 5-7, 7-5, 1-0 (14-12).
Hendrix moves to 4-8 on the season and will return to action on Saturday when they play host Southern Athletic Association foe Birmingham-Southern College.
