Clarksville, AR -Â Hendrix men's swimming and diving team defeated Ozarks but fell to Austin in this evenings double dual. The women however, defeated both Ozarks and Austin taking first place overall.
For the Hendrix men the
Brandon Cathey took first place in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:05:55.
Sam Melhorn added a pair of individual wins as well, claiming the 100 freestyle (49.43) and the 100 breaststroke (59.72).
Adam De Groodt,
Bailey McLendon, Cathey, and
Lyle Alford also added a win in the 200 freestyle relay (1:34:95).
On the women's side
Bree Lyerly,
Journey Eubank,
Sydney Lacey, and
Angelique Longobardi highlighted the women's docket again. They scored first place in the 200 Medley Relay (2:04:08).
Veronica Ibanez touched first in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 12:20:19, Lyerly was a winner in the 50 freestyle, clocking 26.59, and Longobardi won the 100 freestyle in 58.66.
"Collectively, this was the best meet we have had all season" said Head Coach
Marty Wahle. "Our team was aggressive at the front end of their races and had gas in the tank to finish their races strong. Men had a solid performance against a much improved Austin team, and the women had another good win. The women are still undefeated going into Thanksgiving break."
Hendrix will have an open two weeks before hosting the second annual Hendrix Invitational on Dec. 1st.
