CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College men's tennis team suffered a 5-4 defeat to the University of the Ozarks at home Saturday.
The Warriors (1-4) started by taking the top two doubles matches from the Eagles (2-0). Seniors
Karthik Garimella and
Ian McVinney defeated Dillon Murray and Jacob Organ 8-3 at number one and junior
Kristian Lenser and sophomore
Luke Lefler topped Spencer Turner and Sebastien Ricard 8-4 at number two.
Ozarks rebounded to win four of the doubles matches. Hendrix picked up a point with a third-set tiebreaker win in the top flight when Garimella beat Murray 6-7 (5-10), 6-1, 1-0 (10-6). Lenser had a 6-2, 6-3 win over Reid Birch in number four singles.
McVinney lost to Organ in a tiebreaker in the third flight 7-6 (10-6), 4-6, 1-0 (10-8).
Hendrix will be back in action next Saturday when they face Covenant College in Memphis, Tenn.
