CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College men's tennis team finished the 2017 season with a 6-0 loss to #18 Sewanee - The University of the South in the first round of the Southern Athletic Association Tournament Friday.
The top-seeded Tigers (19-3) swept through doubles with the Warriors' (3-14) number three junior duo of
Daniel Habenicht and
Kiran Chakka falling 8-3 to Aubrey Davis and Fletcher Kerr.
In number one singles, #24 Avery Schober topped senior
Karthik Garimella 6-4, 6-1. Davis defeated junior
Kristian Lenser 6-2, 6-0 at the third spot and Dane Hawthorne was a 6-2, 6-0 victor over sophomore
Daniel Sweeney at number six.
Hendrix senior
Ian McVinney split sets 6-1, 2-6 with Davis Owen at number two before the match was called. McVinney was named to the All-Tournament Team.
