Conway, AR - The Hendrix College football team has announced its 2018 schedule.
Hendrix College's 2018 football schedule features five home games, including Southern Athletic Association contests against rivals Centre College (September 15), Sewanee (September 29), Berry College (October 13), and Trinity University (October 27).
Fans can get a first look at the Warriors at the season opener on Saturday, September 1 against Lyon College. Kick-off is set for 7 PM. The Warriors are 3-0 against the Scots and look to improve that record with another confidence-building win before heading on the road the following week.
Warrior Football has been very successful in home openers under coach
Buck Buchanan at Young-Wise Memorial Stadium/Crafton-Faulkner Field, going 5-0 from 2013-2017.
Hendrix will hit the road for their next contest against American Southwest Conference foe, Texas Lutheran University, in Seguin, TX. The Warriors defeated TLU at home last year, and they look to continue winning ways against the Bulldogs before heading into SAA league play against Centre the following week. During Coach Buchanan's five years at the helm, the Warriors are 10-3 in non-conference contests, they are 6-1 at home, and they are 4-0 since 2014.
Hendrix will face off in a big conference match-up against Centre College at home on September 15. The winner of that game has gone on to finish as conference champions or runners-up in the past five seasons.
The Warriors then alternate away and home games the next 4 weeks with games at Austin College, at home against Sewanee, at Birmingham-Southern College, and then at home against Berry College. The Warriors hope to carry a strong finish from 2017 into the year and through a tough conference slate before a timely bye week on October 20th.
Hendrix's final home game will be October 27th against SAA opponent, Trinity University (TX) with kickoff slated for 1 PM at Crafton-Faulkner Field.
The regular season culminates with a two-game road stretch for the Warriors. They will travel to Memphis, TN to take on Rhodes College on November 3rd at 6 PM, and then the regular season finale takes place in Jackson, MS against Millsaps College on November 11th.
Hendrix Football has enjoyed 4 straight winning seasons after resurrecting a program that had been dormant since 1960 (52 year hiatus). Coach Buchanan is 32-19 in his career, and he is 29-12 since 2014. The Warriors have been dominant at home, going 21-5 since re-starting football and 19-2 since beginning their streak of winning seasons in 2014. The Warriors have also ranked among the nation's best teams offensively, finishing as the country's top offense in 2016 (600 yards per game), and finishing in the top 10 over the past 3 seasons. As a team, the Warriors captured the 2015 SAA Conference championship, and they look to build on last year's 8-2 finish which featured a majority of young players returning for the 2018 campaign. Optimism is high as the Warriors are currently in the midst of off-season workouts and the staff is finishing up bringing in another outstanding class of freshman and transfer newcomers.
