Conway, Ark. - On Thursday, January 1, Hendrix's
Auvic White will be recognized as a member of the 22-man Allstate/AFCA Good Works Team during halftime of the 92nd Allstate Sugar Bowl.
This year marks the 34th anniversary of the award, which was established in 1992 to recognize a select group of college football players who have made a commitment to service and enriching the lives of others. The 22-man team is comprised of student-athletes across all divisions of college football, including seven from Division III.
On New Year's Eve, White and head football coach
Buck Buchanan participated at a community service event and in the Sugar Bowl parade in New Orleans.
White is the first Warrior to have been named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. Off the field, White serves full-time with Athletes in Action, where he mentors over 600 student-athletes, helps organize community programs, and provides leadership development opportunities. In his time with AIA, he's raised more than $12,000 to support AIA's outreach and dedicates nearly 40 hours each week to helping student-athletes grow and succeed. He also regularly volunteers at Special Olympics events, speaks with youth groups, and takes part in service projects, including packing 20,000 meals for children in need. Through initiatives like Reading Day, he continues to inspire young people to reach their full potential on and off the field.
Kickoff for Thursday's Sugar Bowl, which showcases No. 3 Georgia and No. 6 Ole Miss in a College Football Playoff quarterfinal, is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT from the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. The halftime presentation is expected to begin around 8:30 p.m. CT.
