Timely Hits Propel Warriors to 14th Victory of the Season

CONWAY, Ark. – Already off to an impressive 13-4 start prior to Thursday's contest, Hendrix hosted Iowa Wesleyan for a non-conference tilt inside Warrior Field. After blowing a 4-0 lead, the Warriors scored the final four runs of the game as Hendrix downed the Tigers, 8-4, in Conway Thursday night for its 14th win of the season. Evan Orren picked up his second win of the year after relieving the starter in Bryce Delay. Ford Sherrington and Jorge Leon tallied a pair of three-hit days in the big non-conference win.

HOW THE WARRIORS SCORED:
- 1st - Ford Sherrington doubled to right field, RBI; Tanner Cooper scored.
- 2nd - Tom Flisk singled through the right side, RBI; Josh Walker scored.
- 2nd - Jorge Leon singled to left center, RBI; Seth Tucker advanced to second; Tom Flisk scored.
- 3rd - Juan Pable Leon singled through the right side, RBI; Ford Sherrington scored.
- 4th - Jorge Leon flied out to lf, sacrifice fly, RBI; JR McAuley scored.
- 6th - Jorge Leon singled up the middle, RBI; Seth Tucker advanced to second; JR McAuley scored.
- 6th - Ford Sherrington singled up the middle, RBI; Jorge Leon advanced to second; Seth Tucker scored.
- 8th - Ford Sherrington reached on a fielder's choice, RBI; Tanner Cooper out at second 2b to ss; Jorge Leon advanced to third; Seth Tucker scored.

WARRIORS' DECISION(S) ON THE MOUND:
   W – Evan Orren (2-0); 0.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R/0 ER, 1 K/0 BB

NOTABLE:
- After the Warriors led 4-0 and the Tigers scored four runs in the top of the fourth, McAuley led the bottom half of the inning with a bunt single.
- After stealing second and third bases, a sacrifice fly by Jo. Leon allowed McAuley to tag up and score as the run put Hendrix up 5-4.
- In the sixth inning, Jo. Leon singled up the middle to bring home McAuley for an insurance run before Sherrington racked up the final two RBIs of the game on a single up the middle in the sixth inning and a fielder's choice ground out in the eighth.
- Sherrington batted 3-for-5 with 3 RBIs and a run Thursday against the Tigers; giving Iowa Wesleyan its sixth straight loss on the year. Two of Sherrington's three hits were doubles to right field.
- Jo. Leon went 3-for-4 in a three-RBI performance as well against Iowa Wesleyan.
- Hendrix recorded five extra-base hits against the Tigers; all of which were doubles.
- Following outings by DeLay and Orren, Evan Ingram tossed two innings of hitless baseball before Zach Orlando pitched the seventh inning and allowed one hit. Andrei Stoyanow tossed a hitless eighth inning while Barker cleaned things up and tossed a hitless ninth inning in a no decision effort.

WHAT WAS SAID:
"I am really proud of the way our guys competed and stepped up in big situations," said Head Coach Sean McSheffery. "Every guy on our team has a hand in the win. I am really proud of them all."

WHO'S NEXT:
Hendrix will host non-conference foe Grinnell in a three-game series this weekend. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon from Warrior Field.
