Box Score 2 Conway, Ark.- In a weekend hampered by inclement weather, the Warriors took two games from Washington University St. Louis with the third game being ruled no contest in the 4th inning as it started to rain in Conway.
Game 1: Bryson Bales threw six frames of two-hit baseball, allowing only one run and collecting 6 strikeouts. John Henry Fowler and Jack Hodgins came in relief of Bales, throwing one and two shutout innings respectively. The Warrior pitchers tallied 14 strikeouts against the Bears.
The dominant performances of the three Warrior pitchers limited the Bears' scoring chances while the Warriors offense had a productive day at the plate against a talented WashU pitching staff. Adam Bland went 2-4 at the plate with an RBI. He drew a walk, stole three bases, and scored twice: once on a Hogan Ralston sacrifice fly in the 1st inning and the second time on a Zach Marriott single. Joseph Watts had the Warriors' only extra-base hit of the day. Austin Rabago went 1-3 at the plate, driving in a pair of runs on a single to centerfield in the 8th inning. The Warriors won game 1 by a score of 6-1.
Game 2: Andrei Stoyanow notched his second win of the season, throwing 6 innings and allowing one run on 5 hits. Cade McWilliams collected a rare three-inning save out of the bullpen, scattering two hits across 3 innings pitched. Stoyanow and McWilliams combined for 6 strikeouts in yet another well-pitched game for the Warriors.
At the plate, the Warriors knocked in 3 runs on 8 hits. WashU pitchers Matt Lopes and Hank Weiss hampered some of the Warriors' offensive capabilities, but a handful of timely hits helped the Warriors edge past the Bears by a score of 3-1. Adam Bland, David Ripple, and Drake Job accounted for 6 of the Warriors' 8 hits with 2 hits each. Bland and Job each hit a double and accounted for all three of the Warriors' runs scored. Ripple, Joseph Watts, and Austin Rabago each drove in a run.
The Warriors will be back in action this coming weekend as they take on Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Georgia. The Saturday doubleheader begins at 1 pm EST. This will be followed by a single contest on Sunday beginning at 12 pm EST.
