Box Score 2 Hendrix headed out east for their first conference road trip of the season and suffered losses at the hands of Centre and Sewanee on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
Friday vs Centre (L, 64-42)
Hendrix jumped out to a 18-15 lead over the Colonels at the end of the first quarter on Friday night but failed to score in double-figures in each of the succeeding three quarters en route to a third-straight loss to open conference play.
Riley Brady was the only Warrior to finish in double-figures, posting an 11-14 double-double, her fourth-consecutive double-double and her sixth in the last seven games.
Hendrix shot 24.1% from the field and a season-low 17.6% from behind the arc.
Sunday vs Sewanee (L, 76-64)
The Warriors fell behind 34-24 late in the first half to Sewanee but ended the first half with a bang with back-to-back 3's from
Ava Knoedl and
Megan Gray to cut the deficit to four going into halftime.
Simone Shield's transition jumper with midway through the third quarter tied the game at 40-40 heading into the second media timeout. Shields gave Hendrix a 44-43 lead a couple minutes later with two free throws. Sewanee looked to run away late in the quarter with a 5-point lead, but Shields produced four more points late to make it a 50-48 game heading into the final quarter.
Brady tied the game at 50-50 on the opening possession of the fourth off an assist from
Natalie Edmonson, but it was a short-lived tie as the Tigers jumped out on a 15-1 scoring run. They would lead 65-51 at the final media timeout and outscore Hendrix 26-16 in the final quarter.
Brady once again shone over the course of 40 minutes, registering a 15-27 double-double. Her 27 rebounds are a new career-high and rank second all-time in program history.
