Round Rock, Texas - Hendrix kept their 2025 season alive on Thursday with a 3-0 win over the 3-seed St. Thomas in the SCAC quarterfinals. Goals from
Laramie Cox,
Kaylee Fluger, and Madi Lampkin contributed to a first-half blitz that carried the Warriors into the semifinals.
St. Thomas had only conceded eight goals all season long in league play, but
Laramie Cox put Hendrix ahead inside of six minutes with a screamer from outside of the box after being played through by
Ava Puente.
Kaylee Fluger added on a second just six minutes later, scoring directly off a corner with a rare but spectacular olympico.
Lampkin put the game to bed in the 24th minute with a tidy right-footed finish over the Celts' goalkeeper after being played through by Puente, who recorded her second assist of the afternoon.
St. Thomas out-shot Hendrix 24-8 over the 90 minutes, but
Jeff Trimble prevailed in part due to a season-high fourteen saves from
Kennedy Lewis.
Hendrix's win on Thursday marked only the second time that a 6-seed has beaten a 3-seed in the history of the SCAC tournament.
The Warriors advance to tomorrow's semifinal against McMurry, with a berth to the SCAC championship match on the line. Kick-off will be at 2:30 PM on Friday afternoon at the Round Rock Multisport Complex.
