Suwanee, Ga. - Riley Brady has been named Defensive Player of the Week for women's basketball by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Brady (Little Rock, Ark.) just recently made her return to the basketball program after her volleyball season wrapped up and has made an instant impact, posting three-consecutive double-doubles to announce her comeback.
Against Champion Christian on Thursday, Brady was limited in her return to just 10 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. She came off the bench two days later against Rhodes to record a 19-23 double-double. Her 23 rebounds ranked 9th in SCAC history at the time, but the junior pushed that mark down a slot on the record book on Sunday afternoon. Making her first start of the season, Brady helped Hendrix to a 66-63 win over previously-unbeaten Arkansas Baptist, scoring 14 points to go along with 26 boards. Her 26 rebounds now rank 3rd all-time in conference history.
This is Brady's first weekly award from the SCAC for women's basketball after being named All-SCAC first team in volleyball, and will add this honor to her extensive weekly awards collection from the SAA from her first two years at Hendrix.
Brady and the Warriors will enjoy an 11-days rest before returning to Grove Gymnasium to host Howard Payne on Friday, December 19 for a 6:00 PM tip-off.
