CONWAY, Ark. - For the first time in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference history, one player will take home both offensive and defensive player of the week honors. Hendrix's
Riley Brady earned a clean sweep of the weekly honors after a career weekend, helping Hendrix to victories over Centenary and LeTourneau on Friday and Saturday.
Against Centenary, Brady tied the single-game program record with 38 points to go along with 17 rebounds. The 38 points is also the most an SCAC women's basketball player has totaled this season in a contest. The junior shot 11-of-15 from the field, 16-of-20 from the stripe, and contributed 2 steals on the defensive end.
She followed that up on Saturday with 28 points and 30 rebounds in an overtime win over LeTourneau. Brady's 30 boards ranks second all-time in league history after setting the mark at 31 earlier this season against Ozarks. She also recorded 6 steals to average 4.0 per game in the weekend doubleheader.
This week's honors bring Brady's total up to five on the season, and this is her first time being named SCAC Offensive Player of the Week.
Brady and the Warriors will be back in action on Friday as they head to Shreveport to take on Centenary in the return fixture. Tip-off at the Gold Dome is slated for approximately 8:00 PM.
