ARKADELPHIA - The Hendrix men's and women's track and field programs competed in the Ouachita Invitational hosted by Ouachita Baptist over the weekend.
B Adams got the meet started off on a high note, scoring a top-three finish in the women's hammer with a 39.38m on her first attempt.
Jayvian Coulter kicked off Saturday's field events with a fourth-place finish in the men's javelin, throwing a 47.57 on his third attempt, narrowly missing the podium.
Ember Hughes finished third in the women's javelin with a 34.11m toss.
B Adams was back in the top 10 in Saturday's events, finishing seventh in the women's shot put (11.10m) before cracking the top three once again, this time in the women's discus (39.28m).
Dee Woods finished second in the men's high jump with a 1.80m jump, and
Ava Clark was just off the top ten in the women's long jump, posting a 4.36m.
On the track, the men's 4x100m relay "A" team of
Miguel Manners,
Tre Watts,
Brooks McGee, and
Westin Bruce finished runner-up with a 41.93, besting several "A" teams from NCAA Division II competition. In the men's 110m hurdles,
William Andrews finished third with a 15.59. Bruce took home second in the men's 100 meters, missing out on the top spot by just 0.004 of a second, and also finished second in the men's 200 meters (21.55).
Arianne Ricaurte placed eighth in the women's 400m hurdles (1:22.88), and on the men's side, Laron Johnson finished sixth with a 1:00.59.
Ember Hughes cracked the top ten in the women's 200 meters (26.36).
The Hendrix "A" 4x400m relay team of Rhett Glenn, Laron Johnson,
Coleman Stephens, and
Owen Lien closed out the event with a sixth-place finish (3:37.05).
