CONWAY - Joshua Gil has been named the SCAC Special Teams Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Gil was instrumental in Hendrix's 36-27road win over Millsaps on Saturday. The senior averaged 39 yards per punt with a long of 49 and was able to pin the Majors back beyond their own 10 in a critical situation. His last punt of the game flipped the field while taking valuable seconds off the game clock, which prevented Millsaps from mounting a game-saving drive.

Gil also kicked off three times on Saturday, averaging 41 yards per kickoff.

This is Gil's first SCAC Player of the Week honor of the season. He and the Warriors will be back on the road this weekend as they head to Sherman, Texas to take on Austin College at Apple Stadium.
