CONWAY, Ark. - For the second time in 10 days, the Hendrix College men's basketball team defeated Rust College. After beating the Bearcats (4-5) by one point in Memphis, Tenn. on Nov. 30, the Warriors (5-4) had an easier time at home on Monday, winning 69-55.
Hendrix led the entire game and built a 22-12 lead with 10:44 to play in the first half. Rust chipped away and cut it two points right before halftime, with the Warriors taking a 38-34 lead into the break. Hendrix moved the lead to 15 points with just under 10 minutes to play. The Bearcats would get as close as 54-46 at the 7:17 mark before pushing their advantage back out to 20 late.
For the game, the Warriors shot 40.6 percent (26-of-64) from the field, 6-of-14 from three-point range and 11-of-19 at the free throw line. The Bearcats shot 32 perent (19-of-59), 3-of-14 from outside and 14-of-21 at the stripe. Hendrix held a 47-41 rebounding edge.
Four Hendrix players hit double-digits, led by junior forward
Luke Vance with 13 points. Senior forward
Colton Primm had 11 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals and sophomore guard
Drew Nikolovski scored 11 points and dished out three assists. Sophomore guard
Hank Aldous scored 10 points, grabbed nine boards, had three assists and two blocks. Forwards
Will Roland and
Gearen Littlefield each scored seven points off the bench. Point guards
Jordan Taulton and
Gabe Gumm each had four assists.
Keahmere Gredic led Rust with 15 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. O'Darius Lowe had 9 points, 10 boards and six blocks and Jonathan Bowens came up with eight points and nine rebounds.
Hendrix will be off until Dec. 19 when they face Austin College in Sherman, Texas.
