CONWAY, Ark. – The Hendrix College men's basketball late rally came up just short as the host Warriors lost to Berry College 63-60 at Grove Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon. The loss puts the Warriors (7-16, 2-10) and the Vikings (5-18, 2-10) in a three-way tie with Millsaps for sixth place with two Southern Athletic Association regular season contests left.
Berry led the entire game and took a 30-21 advantage into halftime. They led 56-46 with 5:22 remaining in the game, but the Warriors fought back with an 11-2 run over the next 3:20 and were only down 58-57 at the 2:02 mark. During that stretch, sophomore forward

Viking guard Mac Whalen hit a three-pointer on the next possession and Vance made another basket with 1:21 left, cutting the deficit to 61-59. Vance went 1-for-2 at the free throw line with 17.1 seconds remaining to make it a one-point game. The Warriors fouled Jonathan Abrams almost immediately, who made a pair of free throws to with 15.4 seconds remaining to put Berry up 63-60. The Warriors held for the final shot, and freshman guard

For the game, Hendrix shot 42 percent (23-of-55), went 3-of-12 from outside and 11-of-18 at the free throw line. Berry shot 50 percent (25-of-50), 3-of-14 from three-point range and 10-of-20 at the charity stripe. The Vikings held a slight 34-33 edge in rebounding.
Vance led the Warriors with 15 points, nine of which came in the final five minutes of the game. Junior forward
Colton Primm had 12 points and nine rebounds and Gram finished with eight points and a season-best five assists.
Abrams paced the Vikings with 15 points and six assists. Whalen had 12 points and Jake Wright came off the bench for 11 points. Mac Howard added nine points and eight rebounds.
Hendrix will return to action on Friday night when they host Centre College.
