Warriors Cruise to 96-71 Win Over Vikings

CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College men's basketball team rolled to a 96-71 Southern Athletic Association victory over Berry College at Grove Gymnasium Sunday afternoon. The point total was the highest for the Warriors (7-7, 1-2) since they scored 105 in an overtime win against Southwestern University on Feb. 5, 2011.

Hendrix shot 46 percent (13-of-28) in the first half, while Berry (3-10, 0-3) shot 34 percent (9-of-27), giving the Warriors a 41-26 lead at the break. Hendrix also went 14-of-18 at the free throw line in the first half. The Orange & Black scorched the nets to the tune of 66.7 percent (18-of-27) in the second period, building their lead to as many as 29.

For the game, the Warriors shot a season-best 56.4 percent (31-of-55) from the field, while going 4-of-13 from three-point range and 30-of-44 at the free throw line. The Vikings shot 33.9 percent (21-of-62) overall, 3-of-22 from outside and 26-of-37 at the line. Hendrix also held a 45-34 rebound advantage.

Sophomore guard Alec Conard came off the bench to score 18 points, going 14-of-17 at the line, and to grab 13 rebounds for his first career-double-double. The Southlake, Texas native also recorded three assists, two blocks and two steals. Senior forward Colton Primm went 8-of-10 from the field, en route to 19 points. Sophomore guard Drew Nikolovski hit a trio of three-pointers for 13 points to go with eight rebounds, a career-high five assists and a pair of blocks. Junior Forward Luke Vance added 12 points and five boards. Sophomore forward Will Roland came off the bench to score 11. Freshman point guard Gabe Gumm dished out a season-best nine assist and scored six points.

Owen Jacobs paced Berry with 16 points, going 10-of-12 at the free throw line, and 12 rebounds. Mac Whalen scored 10 points and Hunter Smoak had nine.

Hendrix will travel to Memphis, Tenn. for an SAA match-up with Rhodes College on Saturday.
