CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College football team will play the first round of the NCAA Division III Playoffs at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala. at noon Saturday.
The Warriors finished the regular season 8-2 and went 7-1 to claim the Southern Athletic Association title in only their year since returning the program in 2013. Under head coach
Buck Buchanan, Hendrix set a new program for wins, culminating with a 19-0 victory at Sewanee - The University of the South this past Saturday.
The host Hawks went 9-1 and 7-0 in the USA South. Their only loss was a 35-34 defeat at Birmingham-Southern College on Sept. 12. Hendrix beat BSC 21-16 at home on Oct. 10. Huntingdon received eight votes in this week's D3football.com Top 25 Poll.
The winner of Saturday's game will have to travel to the winner between #12 Hardin-Simmons and #13 Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Tickets for the game at Huntingdon will be $15 for general admission and $5 for college students with a valid student ID. Tickets will be sold at Samford Stadium beginning at 9 a.m.
