SEGUIN, Texas - The Hendrix College men's tennis team won their second match in a row by topping Howard Payne University 8-1 on Sunday.
The Warriors (3-7) took two of three doubles matches against the Yellow Jackets (0-9). Junior
Kristian Lenser and sophomore
Luke Lefler defeated Drew Lambert and Ryan Barrett 8-1 in the second spot and sophomores
Daniel Sweeney and
Henry Dana topped Noah Marlin and Brandon McGibeny 8-1 at number three.
Hendrix followed by sweeping all six singles matches. Senior
Karthik Garimella was a 7-5, 6-0 winner over Edgar Torres at number one and senior
Ian McVinney downed Lambert 6-2, 6-0 at number two. In number three singles, Lenser used a third set tiebreaker to go over Gabe Benitez 5-7, 6-0, 1-0 (10-4). Lefler defeated Barrett 7-6 (10-3), 6-3 in the fourth spot and junior
Daniel Habenicht defeated Marlin 6-1, 6-1 at number five. Sweeney won the number six spot against Andrew Stevenson 6-1, 6-2.
Hendrix will be off until Apr. 1 when they host Birmingham-Southern in Southern Athletic Association competition.
