Hall of Honor
Bob Jackson, a native of Paragould, Arkansas, was a three-sport athlete for the Warriors in football, basketball, and track & field. On the court, he tallied 810 career points, averaging 12.1 per game over 67 games. The three-time letterwinner was named a 1959-60 All-AIC Honorable Mention and served as the team’s co-captain during his senior season. Jackson was a three-year letterwinner in football and lettered one year in track & field.
Following graduation, Jackson dedicated his life to coaching. He began his career at Searcy High School, where he coached his teams to six consecutive state cross country championships and remained unbeaten in dual meets for five and half years. Jackson then moved to Florida and started the boys and girls cross country programs at Rockledge High School. He won two state championships in 1975, one with the Lady Raiders cross country team and another with the boys’ track team. Jackson led the Lady Raiders to back to-back state championships in 1976, as well as helped the boys program to its first title. In total, he led Rockledge to five state championships. In 1979, Jackson was recognized by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association as the National Cross Country Coach of the Year.
