Henry Hudson

Henry Hudson of Stamps, Arkansas, excelled as a three-sport star athlete for the Bulldogs, lettering in basketball, football, and track and field.

Hudson was a three-time All-State First Team selection in basketball, helping coach Ivan Grove’s teams to back-to-back Arkansas Athletic Association titles in 1927 and 1928. He also was a 1926 All-Arkansas First Team and 1927 Third Team pick in football. Hudson threw shot put and discus for the 1927 and 1928 Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference champion Bulldogs. In the 1928 AIC meet, he won the shot put and discus.

As a student, Hudson was an argumentative critic for the Harlan Society, junior class president and member of the debate team. He was elected student body president for the 1927-28 academic year and business manager of the Troubadour.

After graduation, Hudson coached basketball and football at Blytheville High School. He went on to coach basketball and track at Arkansas College and Arkansas Tech University.
