Hendrix College Athletics

Elmer Smith, class of ’31, lettered four years in Bulldog/Warrior football (All-State two years), basketball (All-State four years), baseball, and track. He would later serve three years as assistant coach at Hendrix. After service in World War II, Smith was head coach at Southern State College, Magnolia, for eight years and then, was an assistant coach at Texas A&M University for 21 years. He was inducted to the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame in 1968.
