Hendrix College Athletics

Herman Hammons, class of ’81, was a four-year letterman in both basketball and track at Hendrix. Well known for his jumping and dunking ability, he was named All-AIC and All-NAIA District 17 in 1981. Hammons was All-AIC in track for three years, setting the AIC and Hendrix high jump record of 7’ 3/4” in 1978. He was designated an NAIA All-American in track in 1978 and 1981. He later served one year as assistant basketball coach at Hendrix and is a director of Boys Clubs of Greater Dallas, Inc.
